Managing and reporting performance is one of the key challenges of public administration. Faced with complex bottom lines and a multitude of professional and political pressures, managers in public sector organisations stand to benefit greatly from sophisticated monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems. The Monitoring & Evaluation Training Programme by SEDC helped the middle and senior level officers (civil servants) of the KP Government to understand the strategic importance of M&E systems, mechanisms for designing M&E systems and the practical considerations for creating and adopting M&E practices in government organisations.
The 4-day programme, imparted technical knowledge regarding M&E and also focused on creating a shared learning space where the participants and the instructors learnt from each other. Moreover, through case studies, group discussion and team tasks, the participants also gained valuable insights into cross functional collaborations. The learning objectives and areas covered in this customised programme included Designing M&E Frameworks, Developing Performance Indicators, Conducting Evaluation Studies, Reporting M&E Data and Strategic Implications of M&E Systems.
This training programme was part of the Capacity Building Interventions for Officers of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Governance and Policy Project (GPP) funded through the Multi Donor Trust Fund, administered by the World Bank and implemented by P&D Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This training was successfully designed and delivered by SDSB faculty, Dr. Mohsin Bashir and Dr. Muhammad Azfar Nisar, Programme Director and Co-programme Director, respectively.
