LUMS SEDC Engages in Workshops by Women Leaders

The Social Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) recently conducted three workshops attended by the Women Leaders, while a total of 8 such workshops are to be conducted. The first workshop attended by SEDC was held on July 22, 2013 at Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), LUMS. 22 female employees from among the janitorial staff working on LUMS campus, along with their supervisors attended the workshop. Hina Uqaili, Fariha Mazhar and Fatima Saeed, under the supervision of Misbah Tanveer, delivered the workshop. They created awareness among the participants regarding the importance of personal hygiene, clean environment, and nutritional diet for pregnant mothers, family planning and reproductive health.

The second workshop was conducted on 16 August 2013 at SDSB building, LUMS. 35 male employees from among janitorial staff working on LUMS campus, along with their supervisors attended the workshop. Hina Uqaili and Fatima Saeed encouraged the participants to share decision-making powers regarding family planning with their wives, to take their wives to proper clinics for antenatal and delivery care and to provide proper education to their daughters and sisters.

The third workshop was conducted on 23 August 2013 at NRSP office located in Chatta Bakhtawar, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). Dr. Saba Amjad, Irfana Rafique and Raja Rafaqat delivered the workshop. 20 females attended the workshop, who were briefed about the reproductive health issues of females, disadvantages of early marriages, importance of family planning and breast feeding, methods of birth spacing and transmission of Zoonotic diseases.
